Steve Woodbury

Induction Date: 01/01/2011

It’s not surprising that Steve Woodbury ended up in broadcasting. His father Bob had a 44 year career at WCCO Radio. Steve’s career has almost matched his father’s in longevity. He began at St. John’s University station KSJU as an announcer and Program Director in 1964. Over the next few years he was at KLIZ AM/FM in Brainerd and KSJR/KSJN FM in St. Paul. His more than 35 years in radio management began in Wisconsin in 1976 at WAGO AM in Oshkosh as General Manager, and then as General Sales Manager at WAPL FM in Appleton and at WGEE in Green Bay. In 1981 he moved to the Twin Cities as General Sales Manager at WCCO FM/WLTE FM and then WCCO AM. From 1987-1993 Steve was Vice President/General Manager at WAYL/KLXK/KRXX FM, and WAYL/KMZZ AM. In 1994 he moved to KFAN AM and KFXN AM as General Sales Manager/Station Manager, and in 2000 he built KTTB FM as its Vice President/General Manager. Steve and the Pohlad family acquired KTTB/KHTC FM in 2007 after founding Northern Lights Broadcasting, of which Steve is President/CEO. More recently he established KTWN in Glencoe and Now TV in the Twin Cities. Steve has also served in top executive board positions with both the Minnesota Broadcasters Association and the Twin Cities Radio Broadcasters Association.
