Stanley S. Hubbard

Stanley S. Hubbard has continued his family’s traditions of excellence and innovation in broadcasting, and taken them to new heights. The son of Stanley E. Hubbard, he joined Hubbard Broadcasting in 1951, became its president in 1967, and its chairman, president, and chief executive officer in 1983. In addition to overseeing the operations of the company’s growing roster of radio and television stations in Minnesota and across the country, he also helped develop Conus Communications, the world’s first satellite news gathering organization, and United States Satellite Broadcasting, a pioneer in Direct Broadcast Satellite television. He has served on the National Infrastructure Advisory Council, which advised Vice President Al Gore in developing the “information superhighway,” on the FCC’s Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee on Advanced Television Service, and as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He and his late father were presented the National Association of Broadcasters Distinguished Service Award in 1995.
