Induction Date: 01/01/2015

Paul Douglas has been forecasting weather in Minnesota for more than 30 years. A Lancaster, Pennsylvania, native, he began his career while attending Penn State University. His genuine understanding of the weather and ability to interpret it for others brought him national exposure with appearances on ABC’s Nightline and cable TV’s Satellite News Channel.

Paul came to the Twin Cities in 1983 to join the news team at WTCN-TV. There he created the “Backyard,” an informal, friendly venue for the daily business of forecasting impending blizzards, thunderstorms, and sub-zero temperatures.

After a brief stint at WBBM-TV in Chicago, Paul came back to the Twin Cities in 1998 as WCCO-TV’s Chief Meteorologist and author of a popular weather column in the Minneapolis Star Tribune. His 3D computer graphics company EarthWatch was featured in such films as Jurassic Park and Twister. His AerisWeather service provides customized weather forecasts for the modern digital and broadcasting world. He continues to make regular appearances on TPT’s Almanac. Paul Douglas has combined his passion for weather with an entrepreneurial drive and record of accuracy that will forever ensure his legacy to Minnesota’s history of weather forecasting.
