Member Night

Mark your calendar for an exclusive Member Night on Friday, July 10, 2026! Admission is complimentary for members and their guests. Explore the exhibits during special evening hours and enjoy live demonstrations of one of our most unique artifacts, the spark gap transmitter, back by popular demand!
Spark gap transmitters were the first working form of radio and generate radio waves with an electric spark. These devices were used during the early 1900s as “wireless telegraphs.” Originally assembled by one of our founders, Joe Pavek, our very own spark gap, affectionately nicknamed “Sparky,” will come to life at Member Night. Guests with pacemakers should use caution by maintaining a safe distance from the demonstrations.Â
This members-only event is a great opportunity to take in the exhibits in a new light and connect with fellow science and technology enthusiasts. Additionally, coffee and snacks will be provided. Members and member guests should check in at the Welcome Desk upon arrival.Â
